Red Dead Redemption
Red Dead Redemption is made by Rockstar San Diego and published by Rockstar.

Red Dead Redemption is set in 1908 in the Wild West America and the Wild West Mexio. You play as former outlaw John Marston as he travels the frontier trying to bring back order and law into the world. John Marston is sent to this place by the American Government and forced to capture his two former gang members while the Government takes his family hostage.

This game is both single player and multiplayer. The game doesn't have any difficulty settings but it does include an aiming difficulty option which changes how easy you aim at a target. The game is played singleplayer and not Co-Op which is a shame as I wanted to roam the world with my partner in crime. The game's multiplayer is quite interesting as there is no lobbys but this giant free roam world (The same world as the campaign.) In this freeroam, you can venture into every area of the game's world (Just note that there is no present of NPC stores and merchants but there is NPC players.). In multiplayer you can complete gang hideouts with your posse (A group of friends maxing out at 8 players per posse.) or take the challenge alone. While you do these gang hideouts you gain EXP. EXP is used to rank up in the world, the same as how Modern Warfare  and Modern Warfare 2 works, you reach a certain level and you unlock a new weapon or equipment. The same system works here but the max level cap is 50. You can also Legend (Prestiege) which sets your level back to 1 and you unlock everything faster before you Legend. There are 5 Legends and with each Legend, you unlock a new mount. Mounts are very important both in single player and in multiplayer as it's your main way of travelling. There are travel points in the game which provides quick easy access to certain locations.

Red Dead Redemption holds a game age rating of R16 or R18 in some countries. (Mainly R16 in New Zealand.) The game has it's violence but nothing to gorey in terms of arms flying to pieces or what not. So it's suitable in my opinion.

The game is quite lengthy, it took be around 12 hours to just complete the game's storyline while there is alot more to do after you've completed the story line.

There is a new form of saving, you save after each mission you do, similar to Grand Theft Auto. But if your far from completeing a mission or if your done something that you want to save, what you do is  set up a camp fire from your inventory. In the camp fire mode you can save, change outfits and travel. (You can also do this at a bed in your owned house.)

The game's replay value is quite high as there are many planned DLC on it's way. The game includes a Honor and Fame based system which is the same Good and Evil in the Fable games by Lionhead Studio. But your appearance doesn't change, just the way people interact with you.

The game controls are quite easy and straight forward, but the horse controls are something that you will get a handle of quickly.

The graphics of the game is amazing!. The graphics uses Rockstars RAGE engine which is used by Grand Theft Auto 4 and many new titles to be released. The graphics fit extremely well with the game and compliment each other. Just pure amazement. Each detail is so well done and the way it blends to smoothly is just amazing.

The sound is decent, it goes quite well with the gameplay and the graphics. There are certain points in the game where the sound is juiced up and really compliments the game's overall experience and indulges your mind and gives you a sense of connection with the game.

Overall, the game is worth the money. I highly recommend you get this game as it can be played over and over again. I give this game a rating of 5/5

Matt.
